Branding Costs in Kenya: What Shapes Your Quotation

Branding costs in Kenya depend on the work you are asking a supplier to deliver. A logo, a company profile and a batch of branded staff shirts are different projects, even when all three are described as “branding”.

To get a useful quotation, start with the items you need and how you will use them. Then separate design, physical production and delivery. That gives you a clearer way to compare proposals and plan what your business can afford.

At Jebilton Ventures, we quote against the agreed scope. This guide explains the decisions that shape that scope and the details to send when you enquire.

Start with what your business needs to use

Write a practical list before asking for a price. Are you creating a new identity, applying an existing logo to materials or doing both?

For example, a business preparing staff wear may already have its logo. The work could involve checking the artwork, agreeing its position on the garment and producing the required items. That is a different brief from developing a new logo and visual identity before any garments are considered.

A business preparing for a supplier presentation might need a company profile and stationery. Another might need banners and printed materials for an event. Name the actual deliverables instead of asking for an undefined “full branding package”.

You can also phase the work. Identify the materials needed for the immediate business purpose, then discuss what can follow later. A phased quotation should make each stage clear so you know what is included now.

Separate design, production and delivery

These are useful categories for reading a quotation:

A business-card layout is not the same deliverable as printed business cards. A logo design does not automatically include staff wear. If you need both, ask for both to appear in the scope.

The same applies to files. Agree the final formats you need for the intended use. Editable working files, internal templates, licensed fonts and other production resources are not automatically part of every handover. Resolve those requirements before the work starts.

The details that shape the quotation

How much needs to be designed. A single item and a coordinated set of materials require different work. List the items and explain which existing assets can be reused.

The condition of your existing artwork. Share the files you have so the supplier can assess whether they are suitable for the planned use. Do not assume an image copied from a messaging app is sufficient for every production method.

Physical specifications and quantities. For apparel, provide garment types, colors, sizes and branding positions. For printed materials, identify dimensions, quantities and any material or finishing requirements. Ask for help defining unfamiliar specifications rather than leaving them implicit.

Content responsibility. A company profile may need writing, editing, design and printing. State whether you are providing approved copy and photographs or need those tasks included. Design alone does not settle the content work.

Review and approval. Identify who gives feedback and final approval. Agree the revision process and how changes outside the original brief will be handled.

Timing and delivery. Give the date the items are needed, the delivery location and any event or launch dependency. The supplier should confirm what is feasible after reviewing scope, materials, production availability and approvals. A desired date is not yet a confirmed commitment.

Compare the same work before comparing the total

When two quotations differ, check the assumptions behind them. One may include production while another includes design only. Quantities, materials, final formats and delivery arrangements may also differ.

Use these questions in your comparison:

🔳Are both suppliers quoting for the same deliverables and quantities?

🔳Are the material and production specifications comparable?

🔳Who provides the copy, photographs and existing artwork?

🔳What review stages and final files are included?

🔳Are installation and delivery needed, and are they included?

🔳Which additional costs or third-party charges should you allow for?

🔳What are the payment terms and conditions for work to begin?

🔳How will an extra item or changed requirement affect the price and timing?

A lower total does not, by itself, establish poor work. A higher total does not establish better work. Look at the relevant portfolio, the written scope and how clearly the supplier answers your questions.

Send a brief that makes the next conversation useful

You do not need to know every technical detail. Start with this:

🔳Our business or organization is: …

🔳We need the branding for: …

🔳The items and approximate quantities are: …

🔳We already have these logos, files or content: …

🔳Our preferred specifications, if known, are: …

🔳We need the work by this date and at this location: …

🔳Our budget parameters or priorities are: …

🔳The person coordinating feedback is: …

Sharing a budget can help a supplier discuss priorities and feasible options. It does not replace a written quotation for the work you agree to proceed with.

Common questions

Is there one standard branding price?

Not for every combination of design and production. Ask for a quotation based on your actual requirements. This article is a scope guide, not a fixed Jebilton price list or a survey of market rates.

Can I order branded items using an existing logo?

Yes, subject to checking whether the supplied artwork is suitable and whether any preparation is needed. Include the logo file and proposed items in your enquiry so that requirement can be assessed.

Does a design quotation include printing?

Only when printing is included in the agreed scope. Check quantities, specifications and delivery separately rather than assuming they are part of the design fee.

Will I receive editable files?

Agree the required deliverable formats before work begins. Editable working files and licensed resources are not automatically included with every service.

How soon can the work be completed?

Timing depends on the scope, input readiness, approvals and production requirements. Share your intended date when requesting the quotation, then confirm the agreed schedule.
